Kendall had always hoped for a guardian angel, but no matter how hard she looked, she never caught even a glimpse of one. And now, more than ever—alone, scared, and carrying a child—she needed that angel to appear.
She wandered to a nearby park and sank onto a bench, clutching her backpack to her chest. With trembling fingers, she counted the crumpled bills her adoptive father had slipped her. Just over $56. Not even enough for a single night in a rundown motel.
Kendall broke into fresh sobs, but a warm, cheerful voice interrupted her.
“Hey there, sweetheart, what’s got you so down? Maybe Momma Mila can lend a hand!”

Kendall lifted her gaze to see a tall woman with a warm smile. She wore a vibrant, floral apron, and in one hand, she held a pair of pruning shears, in the other, a bundle of freshly cut roses.
“I’m… okay…” Kendall mumbled, wiping at her eyes.
The woman gave a knowing shake of her head and lowered herself onto the bench beside Kendall. “No, sweetheart, you’re not,” she said gently. “But that’s all right. You can talk to me—I don’t judge.”
Kendall spilled out her entire heartbreaking story, then sighed. “So now I have no money, no job, nowhere to go… and a baby on the way.”
“I can offer you a job,” Mila said matter-of-factly. “And there’s a small place you can stay—but raising that baby? That’s all on you.”
“You’d really give me a job?” Kendall gasped. “Are you serious?”

“Yes,” Mila confirmed with a nod. “I run a flower stand at this end of the park, but I’ve been wanting to set up another near the business district. I’ll teach you how to arrange the flowers, and we’ll see how it goes.”
Through her tears, Kendall managed a smile. “I can do that! I love flowers!”
“Good,” Mila said warmly. “Come on, let me show you the little apartment I can offer you.”
The place wasn’t far. It was small but spotless and inviting, and Kendall could hardly believe her luck. Maybe—just maybe—her guardian angel had been watching over her all along.
As the months passed, life steadily improved. The flower stand in the bustling business district thrived, drawing in customers daily, and Mila couldn’t have been prouder of Kendall’s hard work.
During a visit to the doctor—arranged by Mila—the news was reassuring: both Kendall and her baby were in perfect health.

Five months later, Kendall gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and named him Michael. Mila granted her three months off before she had to return to work, but adjusting to life with a newborn was overwhelming.
Michael cried endlessly, and Kendall found herself changing diapers nonstop. He never seemed to sleep for more than ten minutes at a stretch, leaving her completely drained. But then, one morning, she woke to find sunlight streaming into her bedroom.
“Michael!” she gasped, rushing into her baby’s tiny room.
There he was, sleeping soundly, his little fists tucked under his chin, looking like a perfect angel. Kendall stared in disbelief—her son had made it through the night without waking, feeding, or needing a diaper change!
Then her eyes fell on the empty bottle she had prepared for his night feed. His diaper was fresh and clean.
“That’s so strange,” she murmured. “Did I take care of him in my sleep?”

That night, Michael remained silent once more, and when Kendall woke in the morning, he was fed, dry, and peacefully asleep.
“This is getting really creepy,” she thought uneasily. “Maybe I’m sleepwalking or something. Tonight, I’m staying awake!”
Determined to solve the mystery, Kendall lay in bed, listening intently for any noise. Then, at three in the morning, a faint cry broke the silence—followed by soft, muffled sounds.
Someone was in Michael’s room!
Kendall hesitated at the doorway, her heart pounding. A stranger stood over Michael’s crib, whispering to him gently while changing his diaper. Panic surged through her as she slammed the light switch on.
“Who are you?” she screamed. “Get away from my baby!”
The woman gasped, startled, and Michael burst into frightened cries. But instead of backing away, the woman scooped him up and rocked him soothingly.
“Hello, Kendall,” she said, her voice steady. “I’m Martha Douglas… and I’m your mother.”

Martha shared her story with Kendall. Like her, she had gotten pregnant at a very young age—just sixteen.
“My mother wanted me to have an abortion, but I refused,” Martha said softly. “So she threw me out, and I had no choice but to give you up.”
Tears filled her eyes as she continued, “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It broke my heart. But I was determined to be part of your life, Kendall. I visited whenever I could and sent you birthday gifts and Christmas treats.”
“Later, I went on to finish high school and build my own business. I now own a chain of flower shops across the city—over thirty in total. So, getting one of my employees, Mila, to offer you a job was easy. This house belonged to my late mother…”
Kendall’s mind swirled with questions. “But why didn’t you tell me from the start? Why were you hiding?” she asked, her voice a mix of confusion and hurt.

Martha lowered her gaze, her voice barely above a whisper. “I was ashamed,” she admitted. “I can only imagine what you must think of me, especially since you’re keeping your baby… I never meant for you to find out. I just wanted to make sure you got some rest.”
Kendall pulled her into a hug. “I’m lucky,” she said warmly. “I have you and Mila helping me. Without you both, I might’ve had to give Michael up too. How could I ever think badly of you?”
With her daughter and grandson finally by her side, Martha welcomed them into her beautiful home. At last, Kendall had the loving, supportive mother she had always longed for.
