Meghan Markle’s Surprising Remark About Royal Life Suggests a Significant Shift in Perspective

After Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, first met Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, in July 2016, her life quickly took a dramatic turn. Three-and-a-half years later, they had married, become parents, and stepped back from their roles as working royals. Meghan certainly challenged the traditional views of the royal family when she and Harry spoke openly to Oprah Winfrey in 2021. They followed up with a similar approach in 2022 through their Netflix documentary, “Harry & Meghan.” Even before meeting Harry, Meghan’s remarks about the royal family suggested she had a rebellious spirit. However, with the release of her latest Netflix project, “With Love, Meghan,” the duchess appears to be adopting a new strategy—showing love and affection toward her royal family members.

Meghan has made it clear how much she values her Sussex title. “It’s our shared name as a family, and I suppose I didn’t fully grasp how meaningful it would be to me until we had children,” she told People in March 2025. “I love that it’s something that Archie, Lili, H, and I all share. It means so much to me.”

The duchess has also shifted her focus, returning to some of her earlier passions as she builds her lifestyle brand and maintains an active presence on social media. Now that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are a bit older, Meghan has been offering more glimpses of them on Instagram. For example, in a February 2025 Instagram Story promoting her new show, Meghan shared a moment of Serena Williams playing Candy Land with Lilibet.

Positive energy might just be the key to boosting Meghan’s public image.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, could give her new business endeavors a significant boost by embracing a more positive approach, as her social media audience and Netflix viewers tend to mirror her optimistic energy. “People are naturally drawn to those who inspire, uplift, or provide solutions rather than dwell on complaints,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield shared with Fox News Digital. “Positivity fosters a deeper emotional connection… making your brand stand out and stick in people’s minds.” However, past controversies have left some skeptical. When Meghan rebranded her venture as “As Ever,” some interpreted it as a subtle dig at the royal family. In a February 2025 Instagram video, Meghan hinted at challenges in recent years that had kept her from sharing her passions for lifestyle and wellness.

Some speculated that Meghan was alluding to her blog The Tig, which she ended when she transitioned to becoming a working royal. However, during an interview with People in March 2025, Meghan made it clear that she didn’t regret that decision. The duchess also mentioned that much of her focus had previously been consumed by the overwhelming responsibilities of raising young children. Archie was born in May 2019, and Lilibet followed just over two years later in June 2021.

Now that Lilibet is approaching four, Meghan is preparing to move past the baby and toddler stages. “As a woman, a mom, and a wife, to be able to find yourself again — in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older — is a wonderful feeling,” she shared with People.
