When Danielle got engaged, her aunt said she would pay for the wedding cake. She thought the wedding would be small and a long way off. She suggested a fake display cake and custom sheet cakes from Sam’s Club for less than $400. She also offered to pay up to $800 toward whatever the couple needed most. Her niece didn’t take it well and said she was “ruining the wedding.” Danielle’s aunt’s sister called to say Danielle was having a breakdown. The aunt feels terrible, but she says she never promised an unlimited budget. She only said she would pay for the cake within reason.
