For many aspiring singers, the dream of performing onstage with their musical idol seems out of reach. But for Victoria Anthony, a devoted fan of P!nk, that dream became a reality with a simple request. Upon hearing that P!nk would be performing in her hometown of Vancouver, Victoria wasted no time and seized the opportunity.
Victoria took to Twitter, sharing a passionate plea for the chance to sing with P!nk at Rogers Arena. Her request was simple but filled with enthusiasm: “Hey @Pink, please let me sing on stage with you in #Vancouver May 12. I’ll be ready! – Victoria (age 12). Share this video and tag #vicandpink to make my dream come true.”
That’s a surprisingly mature tweet for a twelve-year-old, complete with a call to action—an essential element of any successful online campaign. While the tweet was impressive, Victoria needed a bit of luck on her side. Thankfully, that luck came when her hashtag went viral and caught the attention of Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan.
Sarah McLachlan didn’t hesitate to step in and support Victoria’s dream. She took to Twitter, writing, “Hey @Pink, you have to check out 12yr old @vicanthonymusic. She really wants to sing with you on May 12th in #Vancouver. Make her #dreamcometrue. #VicAndPink #BeautifulTraumaWorldTour.” With her celebrity backing, the campaign gained even more momentum, and it wasn’t long before P!nk herself took notice.
Despite all the buzz and support, the day of the concert arrived without any word from P!nk. Victoria attended the show, excited to see her idol live, but not expecting anything beyond that. Then, midway through the concert, something incredible happened. P!nk paused and addressed the crowd, asking, “Are you the one I read about in the news? Are you the singer? Do you want to come up and sing something?”
Just as she promised in her tweet, Victoria was ready.
