Stephen Graham takes center stage in this gripping TV mini-series, which he also co-wrote.
A brand-new four-part drama has just premiered on Netflix, quickly gaining widespread acclaim with a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Enthusiastic viewers have flooded social media with praise, calling it the ‘best drama’ in recent years.
Many fans are so impressed by the performances that they believe the show deserves major awards, with some declaring, “Everyone involved is winning an Emmy.”
Directed by Philip Barantini—renowned for his work on Boiling Point, where he also featured Graham—the series boasts an intense and immersive storytelling style.
The cast includes 15-year-old Owen Cooper in his on-screen debut, alongside acclaimed actor Ashley Walters, best known for his role in Top Boy.
What makes this series stand out is its stunning cinematography—each hour-long episode is filmed in a single, uninterrupted take, making it a true technical marvel.
The official synopsis teases a compelling plot: “When a 13-year-old is accused of murdering a classmate, his family, therapist, and the lead detective are all left questioning what really took place.”
The series, titled Adolescence, is now streaming on Netflix. It was co-written by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the show, Graham opened up in his conversation with Netflix: “One of our goals was to explore the question, ‘What’s going on with young men today, and what kind of pressures are they dealing with—whether from their peers, the internet, or social media?'”
He further highlighted the challenges faced by today’s youth, noting: “The pressures stemming from these sources are just as intense for kids here as they are anywhere else in the world.”
Graham elaborated on their creative decision to steer clear of well-trodden narratives, stating: “We could have easily crafted a story centered on gangs and knife crime, or focused on a child with an alcoholic mother or an abusive father.” Instead, they chose a fresh perspective.
He expanded on their creative vision, saying, “Instead, we wanted viewers to see this family and think, ‘My God. This could be happening to us!’ What unfolds here is every ordinary family’s worst nightmare.”
The moment Adolescence hit Netflix, fans rushed to Twitter to share their admiration for the series.
One viewer, deeply moved, wrote: “Just finished #Adolescence—what an absolutely phenomenal show. We truly don’t talk enough about Stephen Graham’s brilliance. That final scene had me in tears.”
