Man Started Crying With Tears After Reading Inscription Written On A Mysterious Grave In The Middle Of The Woods

In a delightful turn of events, Zach Medlin’s casual walk through Kiroli Park in West Monroe, Louisiana, revealed a long-forgotten treasure. Buried beneath layers of fallen leaves and pine needles, a small square stone caught Medlin’s eye.

As Medlin’s one-eyed Staffordshire terrier, Serena, busied herself chasing ducks by the nearby lake, Medlin’s curiosity drew him to uncover the mysterious stone.

“The inscription was hidden under some pine straw,” Medlin told Fox News. “I had to clear it away to make out what the grave marker said.”

What he uncovered told the story of Buddie, 1928 – 1941, born a dog and passed away a gentleman. Medlin couldn’t help but wonder why this dog had been laid to rest in a sprawling 160-acre public park.

From the heartfelt inscription, Medlin could tell that Buddie was an extraordinary dog, clearly adored by his family during the challenging days of the Great Depression.

“Learning that Buddie brought comfort to his family during the Great Depression is genuinely touching,” Medlin shared. “Every dog deserves to be remembered with a grave marker.”

Local legends hinted that Kiroli Park had once been a summer camp for the Boy Scouts, with Buddie acting as their beloved mascot. The story went that Buddie’s courageous barks saved a boy from drowning, alerting nearby Scouts who were able to rescue him.

However, careful research has cast doubt on this story. Lora Peppers, while going through old newspaper clippings, discovered a handwritten note on Findagrave.com dated October 18, 1993. The note, attributed to Mrs. Dee Strickland, offered a new perspective: “According to Mrs. Dee Strickland, the dog belonged to Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Jones of 215 Breard St., Monroe. Mrs. Strickland lived with the Jones family in 1932. The dog was a beautiful Irish setter.”

“Mr. Jones, who frequently brought his beloved dog to Kiroli Park for exercise, chose to bury him there after his passing.”

Whether Buddie was a hero to the Boy Scouts or simply a cherished companion to his family, one thing is certain — Buddie was truly a very good boy. The touching memorial serves as a lasting tribute, preserving the memory of this remarkable dog for years to come.

In a world with thousands of inspiring tales, the unexpected discovery of Buddie’s final resting place brings a heartwarming addition to the story of man’s best friend. As Medlin uncovered this hidden chapter of history, it serves as a reminder that even in the most unremarkable spots, stories of loyalty, bravery, and love can be uncovered, touching the hearts of all who come across them.
