Not long ago, a man named Patrick found himself gasping for air after climbing a simple flight of stairs. He told Mail Online that he felt like a ‘prisoner’ in his own body, weighed down by being ‘so big, heavy, and unhealthy,’ and overall just ‘miserable.’

Determined to improve his health and shed some weight, he decided to adopt a carnivore diet.

What followed was a dramatic transformation, with Patrick losing weight and claiming to feel better than ever before.

Inspired by his success, many others tried the same approach, but the results were mixed.

While some people experienced improvements, others didn’t have the same outcome.

For YouTuber Jake Moscato, he decided to jump on the bandwagon to see firsthand what the diet would do for his body and to improve his fitness.

But his journey wasn’t without its challenges.

Posting a video on his self-titled channel, the man shared his reasons for taking on the challenge.

In the opening of the nearly 10-minute video, he explained that his goal was to improve his overall health, but things didn’t start as he expected.

He confessed, “I thought this challenge wouldn’t be that bad. But, looking back, I really underestimated what I was about to experience.”

“I’m not sure if it was chest pain, but I definitely felt something odd in my stomach, and I started getting anxious,” he continued. “It felt like mild depression—nothing to look forward to. I’m so tired of this. I really am. I’m sick of meat. I might go vegan after this.”

During the first couple of weeks, Moscato struggled to stick to his diet, especially since he went on vacation to California where following the carnivore diet was inconvenient.

Once he returned to New York, he continued to slip up and still felt unwell.

However, he soon realized that he had been too rigid with his approach. He explained, “I was way too strict. Initially, I planned to follow the lion diet, which is just red meat and salt—nothing else.”

He continued, “So, I thought, to get back on track, I could stick to the diet about 95-97% of the time, but add in a bit of fruit, some eggs, maybe a little pork here and there. It won’t hurt.”

“So that’s what I did.”

From that point onward, the YouTuber started gaining momentum, and with a more flexible approach to the carnivore diet (incorporating pork, red meat, fruits, and eggs), he successfully completed the 60-day challenge, seeing noticeable changes in his body.

On day 23, he experienced a surprising shift in his mindset—he began to notice the smell of red meat and found it “delicious.”

After receiving a box from Butcher Box, filled with a variety of meats, he started enjoying his meals more and was able to eat beyond just ground meat.

By the second month, he began to feel improvements in his mood, energy, and focus.

After completing the challenge, he visited his doctor to get his test results and see how his body had changed after 60 days. The results were incredible.

He shared, “As for muscle mass, I’ve gained about six pounds. Two pounds in each arm and two pounds in my chest. My body fat dropped from 16% to 14.6%. My weight went from 208 pounds to 202 pounds, and I got pretty shredded.”

He added, “All my results were great—testosterone even went up, from 748 to 800. My insulin levels were super low, and my iron levels doubled. Everything is looking much healthier.”
