On March 10, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, once again demonstrated her regal grace at the Commonwealth Day service held in Westminster Abbey.
Wearing a striking red Catherine Walker coatdress, Kate performed a flawless deep curtsy for King Charles, perfectly capturing the tradition and sophistication that have defined her royal presence throughout the years.
Her curtsy, a sign of respect for the monarch, was just one of many instances that showcased her impeccable understanding of royal etiquette.
Throughout her 13 years as a dedicated royal, Kate has mastered this graceful gesture, even in the most challenging or unexpected moments.
One notable example occurred during a state visit to Buckingham Palace in November 2023, when she gracefully curtsied while ascending the stairs to greet South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee.
For royal women like Kate, curtsying to the monarch is a time-honored tradition, while male royals simply bow their heads. If a royal doesn’t curtsy, it usually indicates they have already greeted the sovereign earlier in the day.
Kate’s flawless execution of this gesture once again highlighted her dedication to preserving these royal traditions.

A Lighthearted Moment Amidst the Royal Formalities
Amidst the formality of the event, there was also a touching and genuine moment shared between Kate and her husband, Prince William.
The couple shared a warm laugh as they sat together at the front of Westminster Abbey, a meaningful place for them, as it was where they exchanged vows in April 2011.
Their display of affection provided a charming contrast to the otherwise rigid formality of the occasion.
This public appearance marks the latest step in Kate’s return to royal duties, following her announcement in January that she is in “remission” from cancer.
Since then, the Princess of Wales has resumed her royal duties, attending engagements and continuing her charitable work.
Alongside their Commonwealth Day responsibilities, Prince William and Kate recently visited Wales in anticipation of the St. David’s Day celebrations on March 1.
During their visit, they engaged with locals, attempting to make traditional Welsh cakes and interacting with children and local business owners.
Many in the region are still recovering from the devastation caused by Storm Bert and Storm Darragh, and the royal couple’s visit was viewed as a significant morale boost for the community.
“It’s wonderful and an honor for Pontypridd to receive a visit,” said local business owner Theresa Conner. “Their presence will help lift the spirits of people in the town and enhance our visibility.”
Through these engagements, Kate and William continue to deepen their connection with communities throughout the UK, demonstrating their commitment to serving the people and underscoring their dedication to royal duties.
