Buzz has been building around Meghan Markle’s rumored comeback to Instagram, with one commentator predicting she could eclipse Kate Middleton in public favor.
Meghan Markle has endured a rocky stretch recently, but her fortunes may be on the upswing. Talk is heating up that she’s planning a return to Instagram and relaunching her once-popular lifestyle blog, The Tig. A PR insider even claims she might soon steal the spotlight from her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
Recent polls show Kate and Prince William currently hold a clear lead in popularity with the public. Yet celebrity publicist Mayah Riaz thinks the tide may turn. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said, “There’s little doubt that when Meghan returns to Instagram, she’ll surpass Kate in popularity.”
“Kate’s Instagram is meticulously managed. There are limitations to what she can share.”
Mayah pointed out that Kate likely has a professional team behind her online presence, adding, “It presents an idealized version of life—one the Royal Family is eager to maintain.”
Since stepping away from royal life three years ago and moving to the U.S. with Prince Harry, Meghan now has the freedom to “post whatever she likes,” Mayah explained. “She doesn’t need anyone’s approval before hitting publish.”
Talking about what fans might expect from Meghan’s potential return to Instagram, Mayah added, “We could see all kinds of glimpses into Meghan’s world and family life.”
She also predicted that Meghan’s posts would spark major media interest. “We don’t often see Kate’s Instagram activity make waves. But Meghan’s online life will absolutely grab headlines. Big announcements about her projects may even break on Instagram first.”
Just recently, Meghan and Harry were spotted at Beyoncé’s California concert—dancing and sharing sweet moments. Reflecting on that, Mayah said, “We’ve seen clips of Meghan dancing and being affectionate with Harry in public. You’d never catch Kate and William doing that.”
“This is exactly why Meghan and Kate’s Instagram accounts will feel worlds apart. Ironically, even those who criticize Meghan endlessly are likely to follow her profile out of curiosity.”
Still, Mayah offered a word of caution about potential online abuse. “There’s a strong chance Meghan will manage her own posts, which will spark a massive surge in followers once it’s confirmed that @meghan is truly her handle.
“With that flood of attention, unfortunately, I suspect there will also be a wave of negativity. We’ve already seen the toxic backlash she gets on Twitter (X), and regrettably, I believe that will spill over onto Instagram as well.”
