Unexpected turn of events, noted actor Richard Gere, renowned for cult movies such as Pretty Womaп and Αп Officer and a Geпtlemaп, has opted to depart the Uпited States with his family and reside in Spaiп. In a recent interview, Gere clarified that this seemingly final choice was driven by several factors, including his discontent with the nation’s course and, surprisingly, comments regarding Eloп Mυsk, as he emphasized his firm resolve throughout.

Richard Gere, 74, has openly expressed his frustration with the current political and social landscape in the United States. The actor believes that deep divisions, shifting cultural norms, and what he perceives as a “decline in fundamental values” played a significant role in his choice to leave his homeland.
“America isn’t what it used to be. The spirit of unity and kindness that once characterized this nation has disappeared,” Gere stated.

What drew the most attention, however, was his mention of Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and now owner of X (formerly Twitter).
Gere implied that the increasing dominance of figures like Musk in American society contributed to his frustration. Though he didn’t specify exactly what about Musk troubled him, the actor pointed out that the overwhelming influence of tech billionaires in politics, media, and daily life is transforming America into something he finds “unrecognizable.”

“If a single individual can shape public perception and sway global opinion with just one tweet, it speaks volumes about the world’s trajectory. I don’t want my children growing up in a place where corporations and tech giants wield more influence than democratic governments,” Gere stated.
Richard Gere and his Spanish wife, Alejandra Silva, have chosen to relocate to a quaint town in Galicia, a northern region of Spain known for its serenity and rich cultural heritage. With two young children, the couple seeks a quieter, more nature-connected way of life.
