You have every right to say when and how much work you can do. Grooming dogs is not a hobby; it’s your job. After a full day of work, you should be able to relax, not do extra work that you didn’t plan on doing because your girlfriend asked you to. It’s not your job to keep a “commitment” she made without your permission, even if she thought she told you about it.
She calls it unfair, changes the situation. What’s really unfair is that you’re being put in a position where you have to either be rude to her friend or feel bad about doing free work. You’re not crazy or being gaslit; you’re just setting a healthy limit. It might be a good idea to have a calm talk about how to respect each other’s work and personal time from now on.
