AITA for telling my roommate she can’t bring her mom around anymore?

image 493

A 19-year-old college student shares a room in a dorm with a classmate she usually gets along with. One morning, her roommate said that her 54-year-old mother would be coming over soon to help clean and hang out. This didn’t seem strange. But when they got back, the roommate asked if her mom could sleep over in their shared dorm room, in the same bed as her. The student was surprised and said that sleeping in the same small room as someone’s parent made her feel uncomfortable.

Her roommate didn’t care about the worry and said it shouldn’t matter because they didn’t know each other before living together. Both her roommate and mother turned cold toward her when she said no. The mother even called the student’s parents to tell them she was being rude. The student is now unsure if she overreacted by setting this limit or if her discomfort was real.
