AITA for not telling my boyfriend I was going to a picnic while he was at a wedding I wasn’t invited to?

NTA. You did nothing wrong in going to a benign dog picnic while your boyfriend attended a wedding you weren’t invited to. It’s totally comprehensible why you felt so hurt and left out, especially since the reason for your exclusion was related to old school drama. You only wanted to have a bit of lighthearted fun and avoid being home alone, which is completely understandable.

That said, your boyfriend’s complaint appears to have less to do with the nature of picnicking than with a lack of communication on that front. He probably felt left out because you didn’t make plans in advance known, and not because you did anything wrong. You’re not some asshole who wanted to enjoy the day, but next time it might be worth mentioning small plans like this — not so much for permission (it sounds as if you’d already laid waste with your previous good intentions, anyway), but just to have everyone on the same page.
