My boyfriend was kicked out of his apartment because he didn’t pay his rent. He wanted to move into my condo “just for a few months,” but I said no. We’ve been together for a year, and I care about him, but I’ve never lived with anyone before and I like having my own space. Also, I’m worried about his money habits because he often pays his bills late and spends money without thinking. I offered to help him find a short-term rental and even offered to pay for an Airbnb for a week, but he got mad.
He said I was “choosing comfort over love” and that if I really cared, I wouldn’t let him be “homeless.” I don’t think it’s fair for me to have to deal with that, especially since some of it was his fault. I feel bad, but I don’t think protecting my stability makes me heartless. So, am I the jerk?
AITA for not letting my boyfriend move into my apartment after he got evicted, even though I have space?
