After Father Dies in Car Crash, Police Officer Comforts Heartbroken Daughter with a Song

Police officers undergo intense training to prepare for the wide range of emergencies they may encounter each day.

But some situations go beyond anything training can cover.

After a devastating car crash claimed the life of a father and left the mother critically injured, a frightened two-year-old was pulled from the wreck—soaked in gasoline and trembling with fear.

That’s when Officer Nick Strut stepped in, gently lifting the little girl into his arms and doing everything he could to comfort her.

A photo of that powerful moment was captured—and quickly went viral. Once you hear the full story, you’ll understand exactly why.

When police arrived in Brighton, Colorado, they discovered a family in critical condition. The father tragically didn’t survive, and both the mother and a child were airlifted to the hospital.

A 2-year-old girl was pulled from the flipped vehicle—unharmed, but soaked in gasoline.

Officer Nick Struck, who was part of the emergency response, gently scooped the little girl into his arms and walked her away from the traumatic scene.

He began singing to soothe her
The officer, who also has a 2-year-old daughter, said he did what he normally would to comfort his own child—he sang.

“When my daughter gets hurt or scared, I sing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’… So I started singing it to calm her down,” he told 9NEWS.

The song eased the little girl’s fear, and a photo of the moment quickly spread online.
