A mother raising four kids on her own purchased a secondhand car to help her commute to work. Before parting ways, the previous owner advised her to check the trunk once she arrived home. What she discovered inside would alter her life forever.
Jennifer became a single mother of four when her husband, Adam, abandoned her after discovering she was pregnant again. “Another kid to feed? Absolutely not! I’m out!” he shouted before walking out of their trailer and filing for divorce.
Jennifer was heartbroken. The pregnancy had not been planned, but she had hoped Adam would stand by her during such a tough period, particularly given their existing financial struggles.
Once they parted ways, Adam stopped contributing financially to support their children. He argued that he was unemployed and that no one would hire him due to his lack of a college degree.
Soon after giving birth, Jennifer had no option but to seek employment, as she was running low on money for essentials like food, diapers, and milk. She would stroll down strips of restaurants and stores, only to face rejection from business owners because of her four young children.
“It’s tough to hire mothers with little ones. Something always happens — your child gets sick, or you can’t find someone to watch them, so you end up missing work. I’m sorry, it’s just too much for us to manage,” one employer explained bluntly.
With no one in her neighborhood willing to offer her work, Jennifer began searching in a nearby city. Using the little money she had left, she took a cab and asked her neighbors to watch her children for the afternoon.
Upon arriving, Jennifer spotted an opening for a housekeeping position at a nearby hotel. She walked in, applied, and was hired on the spot. “We’re in urgent need of staff, especially with the summer rush coming up. We’ll be fully booked in just a few weeks,” the HR manager explained.
Eager for any work, Jennifer agreed, even if it meant commuting to a different city daily. She thanked the HR manager and headed home, where she excitedly told her kids that she had finally found a job.

After buying the car, Jennifer became so busy juggling work, school drop-offs, and daycare that she completely forgot to check the trunk. Days passed until she stumbled upon a note in the glove compartment.
“I hope you and your children like the gift I left in the trunk. May it be of great help to you.” Startled and intrigued, she rushed to open the trunk, eager to see what was inside.
At first, Jennifer was puzzled when she spotted nothing but a white envelope tucked in the corner of the trunk. Then it hit her—it was the same envelope she had used to pay for the car. Heart pounding, she opened it and found her $5,000 still inside, untouched.
