Adrian and his mistress were enjoying a private evening when an unexpected early return by his wife turned the night upside down. A seemingly innocent pizza box concealed a clue that unraveled Adrian’s deception, altering his fate forever.
The city skyline glittered beyond their apartment windows as Adrian observed Claire methodically packing her suitcase.
“Another business trip?” Adrian exhaled, his tone edged with fatigue.
“The meetings, deadlines, and travel—it all comes with the job,” Claire replied, fastening the zipper with finality.

“But do you really have to go, Sweet Pea? You’re the driving force behind your own fashion empire,” Adrian implored.
“I swear it won’t be long. I’ll miss you too.”
Claire collected her belongings, pressed a kiss to his lips, and walked out the door.
At the airport, Claire exhaled heavily, disappointed to find no messages from Adrian. She had hoped to share the news—she was finally pregnant—but a pressing work call had stolen the moment.

Back home, Adrian sighed in relief. “Finally, she’s out!” he muttered, dialing his mistress.
“I’ll grab roses on my way. I know they drive you wild!” she teased.
“Hurry up; I’m dying to see you!” Adrian said eagerly.
The moment Vanessa arrived, they locked lips passionately. “You crave my kisses but adore her scent, don’t you?” she teased, misting Claire’s perfume all over herself. They were just about to slip into bed when the doorbell suddenly rang.
“Now who could that be?” Vanessa groaned.

Adrian swung the door open, expecting the pizza delivery—but instead, there stood Claire. “Hey, honey!”
“Claire? You’re back? I thought you were on your way to Hong Kong,” Adrian stuttered.
“My flight got canceled. The next one isn’t for three days!”
“Why didn’t you call? I—I could’ve picked you up from the airport.”
“Ah, it’s fine. I stopped by the bookshop on my way home. My phone died, so I couldn’t reach you. Anyway, I’m here now.”

Before Claire could notice, Adrian swiftly snatched Vanessa’s lingerie from the lampshade, stuffing it into his pocket before rushing after his wife to stop her from entering the bedroom.
“Claire, I missed you so much!” Adrian embraced her tightly, but she immediately sensed something was off.
“You’re acting strange, Addy. It was only three hours,” she said, narrowing her eyes.
“Three hours without you felt like forever!” Adrian blurted out awkwardly.
“I see,” Claire said, gently squeezing his shoulders while studying his face. “I was expecting your messages, but you never texted.”
“I left my phone charging and completely forgot,” Adrian replied. “I figured I’d video call you once you got there.”

“Now that I’m home, let’s plan dinner. But first, I need to use the restroom,” Claire said, suddenly pausing, her eyes widening in shock.
“I heard something. Who’s in there?” she asked, pointing toward the bedroom.
“No one. It’s just the wind… I left the windows open,” Adrian stammered.
Ignoring his protests, Claire stepped toward the door. “Claire, honey, stop… There’s no one in there. Don’t you trust me?” Adrian pleaded.
Claire pushed the door open but found the room empty. “I swear I heard something—like a cough. It felt like someone was here.”
“What? No, it’s just the windows,” Adrian insisted, forcing a smile.

“I’m scared we’re drifting apart,” Claire admitted. “And there’s something, I—”
“Sweetheart, I love you more than you realize. There’s nothing to worry about,” Adrian reassured her. “Why don’t you take a shower? You must be exhausted.”
Claire nodded, and as she shut the bathroom door, Adrian let out a deep breath. Silently, he searched for Vanessa, spotting her hidden under the bed. “Go now before she comes out,” he whispered.
As Claire showered, Adrian carefully guided Vanessa to the door. But just as they were about to slip out, they bumped into the pizza delivery guy, his helmet concealing his face.
“Your pizza, sir! Apologies for the wait,” he announced loudly.

“I don’t want your pizza!” Adrian hissed, relieved that Vanessa had slipped away unnoticed.
“But sir, someone’s gotta pay for this. I can’t just cancel your order. You’ll have to call the restaurant!”
With an irritated sigh, Adrian handed over the cash and dismissed him. But before he could breathe easy, Claire’s voice rang out from behind. “Did you order food?”
“I was hungry, thought we could share,” Adrian replied quickly, shooting a glare at the delivery guy before slamming the door.
“I love you, so I love everything you love,” Adrian blurted out, trying to divert Claire’s growing suspicion. She eyed him warily but grabbed a slice anyway.
The moment she took a bite, her expression twisted in discomfort. She bolted to the sink, retching.
“What’s in this pizza? Did you order it extra spicy?” Claire gasped, coughing uncontrollably.

“You mentioned liking a little spice, so I figured we’d try the Tabasco pizza tonight,” Adrian said apologetically.
“A little spice? This feels like a fiery eruption in my mouth!” Claire gasped. He’s going to be such a goofy yet lovable dad, she thought.
“Sorry, honey. Want me to order something else?” Adrian offered.
“Either that or let’s just head to a restaurant. I’m starving,” Claire decided, planning to share the pregnancy news tomorrow. She wanted it to be special—but right now, she was simply too exhausted.
“It’s late. I’ll order something else,” Adrian said quickly. “Sorry about the pizza.”
“No apologies until you take a bite,” Claire teased.
Forcing a smile, Adrian reluctantly took a bite, pretending to savor it.
“Hmm… never known you to eat spicy food. And now, suddenly, you’re enjoying a double Tabasco pizza?” Claire eyed him skeptically.
“Tastes evolve, you know? It’s not so bad,” Adrian lied, forcing himself to take another bite.

Claire went to change, leaving Adrian to “savor” the fiery pizza in peace. The moment she was gone, he rushed to the sink and spat it out in disgust.
The next day, Claire met her friend at a restaurant to talk about Adrian’s odd behavior. She’d barely slept, her mind racing with doubts—was he even ready for this huge step? Would he make a good father?
“I feel like something’s weighing on him,” Claire admitted.
“You’re overthinking, babe. Maybe it’s just tough for him when you’re away on business trips; maybe he really misses you,” her friend, Vanessa, suggested.
“But he’s been so distant lately, Van!” Claire fretted.

“Babe, men handle emotions differently. Don’t overthink it,” Vanessa reassured her.
Claire had no idea that Vanessa was Adrian’s mistress.
Casually, Vanessa suggested Claire take a solo vacation, hoping to clear the way for her own plans. But to her dismay, Claire decided to bring Adrian along—unknowingly ruining Vanessa’s scheme.
“Anyway, let’s order some food!” Vanessa said with a forced smile.
Claire’s heart nearly stopped when Vanessa placed the order: half-regular, half-double-Tabasco pizza.
“I just love extra spicy Tabasco pizza!” Vanessa chuckled as the delivery arrived.
But Claire wasn’t smiling.

“What’s wrong? Why aren’t you eating?”
“Nothing. Just work stress,” Claire fibbed, piecing things together in her mind. Adrian’s odd behavior, the disheveled bedroom, the spicy pizza… and now—Vanessa’s well-known love for the same pizza!
Making an excuse, she abruptly left the restaurant, pretending there was something urgent at work. On her way home, she dialed Adrian, but his phone was busy. She tried Vanessa next—same result.
Claire’s heart plummeted. The life growing inside her belonged to her and Adrian, yet here he was… betraying her! But instead of breaking her, the pain ignited a new fire within.

“Honey, who were you on the phone with for so long?” Claire questioned, stepping into their room with her suitcase in hand.
“No one… just a friend,” Adrian lied, his gaze flickering to the suitcase. “You’re leaving again?”
“Got a last-minute call—urgent work trip to Cairo,” Claire explained.
“You just got back yesterday! What’s the point of us even living together?” Adrian burst out, frustration creeping into his voice.
“What do you mean, Addy? I’m doing this for us!” Claire shot back, her temper flaring.

“That’s it. I’m done. Let’s just… get a divorce!”
“What? Why?”
“You’re never home! It’s been three years, and you still haven’t given me a child!” Adrian accused.
Claire’s eyes welled up as she defended herself. “I work hard for us, Adrian. You can’t blame me for that. And we agreed to wait two years before trying!”
We ARE having a baby, Adrian, she thought. But you destroyed everything, and now, you’ll never see this child’s face!
Adrian pushed forward with the divorce, suggesting they split their assets. Claire swallowed her tears.

“Alright,” Claire finally said. “Let’s not rush this, okay? Let me handle this business trip first. Then we’ll sit down and talk things through with a clear mind.”
“Alright, if you say so,” Adrian replied with a sly smile, locking eyes with her. “But you have exactly one week to decide after you get back from this damn trip. Do you hear me?”
Claire gave a silent nod before walking out.
The moment she was gone, Adrian wasted no time calling Vanessa over.
When she arrived and heard the full story, her face fell in shock.

“And how do you plan to support yourself?” she snapped.
“Relax, she’ll have to split everything,” Adrian reassured her. “It’s all in the prenup!”
With a sly smirk, Vanessa voiced her worry. “If Claire ever finds out I’m your mistress, she’ll never forgive me. I actually feel bad for her.”
“Funny how that guilt didn’t stop you from sneaking into my bed while she was away,” Adrian shot back.
Feeling a twinge of shame, Vanessa brushed it off. “It’s not like I ever had the luxuries she did! Let’s just enjoy today!”
As they tangled under the sheets, assuming Claire was mid-flight to Cairo, she was actually sitting in a pizza restaurant just three streets away—waiting for someone.

Claire needed answers, so she tracked down the pizza delivery guy who had been to her apartment and seen Adrian with another woman.
“Was it her that you saw with my husband?” Claire asked, holding up a picture of Vanessa.
“Yes, that’s her!” the delivery guy confirmed without hesitation.
Twenty minutes later…
The doorbell rang, cutting Vanessa and Adrian’s moment short.
“Honey, could you get that?” Vanessa teased, stretching lazily. “I’m worn out from your love.”
“Better save your energy, babe—there’s more to come!” Adrian chuckled, quickly buttoning his shirt as he hurried to the door. His excitement turned to irritation when he saw the pizza guy standing there, face hidden beneath a helmet.
With a huff, Adrian yanked the box from the man’s hands, scowling. Behind him, Vanessa strolled toward the doorway.

“Did you eat the pizza on the way? Why is this box so light? First, you barge in and interrupt me, and now this?”
Adrian ripped open the box, expecting food—only to freeze in shock.
Inside, instead of pizza, lay a stack of neatly placed divorce papers.
“DIVORCE PAPERS? Is this some kind of joke?” Adrian choked out, his face draining of color.
“You might want to look down at the signature, Adrian!”
Claire whipped off the helmet, revealing herself and leaving Adrian and Vanessa frozen in shock.
“SURPRISE!” she announced with a smile, striding inside. “Adrian, I had my suspicions about you… but love made me blind. How did I not see it sooner? And you,” she turned to Vanessa, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “my husband’s—oh, excuse me—my soon-to-be ex-husband’s mistress?”
Vanessa, clutching a bedsheet around herself, stood speechless by the door.

“Claire, you’re insane! So what if I cheated? No one will believe you! You have no proof!” Adrian spat, desperation creeping into his voice.
Claire smirked and pulled out a tiny hidden camera from beneath her dress. “Oh, but I do. Every single word, every lie—you’re caught.”
Adrian’s confidence shattered. “Claire, please… just one more chance!” he begged.
“Enough!” she snapped, fury burning in her eyes. “You’ve been betraying me for far too long.”
Vanessa, her face pale with regret, stepped forward. “Claire, I’m so sorry! He pulled me into this—I never meant to hurt you!”
But Claire was done. With both her marriage and her so-called friendship.

“Both of you lying, two-faced traitors deserve each other! Trust, once shattered, can never be repaired! You have one hour to pack your things and get the hell out of my house… and my life! Best of luck!”
Claire ripped off her wedding ring, letting it clatter to the floor before storming out, shooting Adrian a withering glare. Her heart ached at the thought of her child growing up without a father, but a life without one was still better than having a deadbeat dad.
Months after the divorce, Claire found solace on a Hawaiian beach, basking in the golden-pink hues of sunset, reveling in her newfound freedom and peace. Adrian eventually discovered she had been pregnant. But he never reached out to be part of the child’s life. Why would he? He was nothing more than a greedy cheater!
