At the Painshill festival in Cobham, Surrey, England, 10-year-old Jake Collinson attended with his parents, holding a homemade sign that read, “Let Me Play Guitar With You.”

While performing with the RPJ Band, Rick Parfitt Junior, son of the late Status Quo legend Rick Parfitt, spotted the sign. He read it out loud to the crowd, saying, “That’s a bit of a risk.” Intrigued by Jake’s bold request, Rick invited the young guitarist on stage after Jake enthusiastically nodded in agreement.

Rick, who was set to perform at the Isle of Wight Festival the following night, asked Jake about his favorite band. Jake answered, “Guns N’ Roses,” and mentioned that he wanted to play “Sweet Child of Mine,” famously known for its iconic guitar solo by Slash. Rick was taken aback, saying, “Are you serious?” as a guitar was handed to Jake.

The crowd of around 5,000 watched with bated breath as Rick jokingly remarked, “This could either be incredible or… incredible, obviously.” Jake then launched into the song’s intro and delivered an impressive performance that left everyone in awe.

Jake later shared the video of his performance on his own Instagram, captioning it, “Can’t believe this happened. Think it went quite well.”
